Let me guide you through some basic information about the race. Actually the official name should be Spanish Grand Prix, however, as a way to pay a tribute to the circuit which hosts the race- Catalunya Circuit that is close to Barcelona, the race is commonly known as Barcelona Grand Prix. It has been 20 years since the first race took place in Catalunya Circuit, before that the Grand Prix was held by 2 main circuits, Jarama (in the North of Madrid) and Montjuic (in Barcelona). For the record (races taking place in Catalunya, Jarama and Montjuic Circuit), the legend German Michael Schumacher made himself a part of the history by winning the race in 6 times which four victories in 4 consecutive years! Following with 3 champions are Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Mika Häkkinen. As a matter of fact, with the success of Fernando Alonso (runner-up in 2003, 2005 and winner in 2006), the race gets more and more attentions from press and Spanish people.
