Let’s have a look at one of the most outstanding fairs in Barcelona: Feira of Sant Ponc. It takes place annually on 11 of May and always attracts lots of local and tourists.
As for its name, the fair is dedicated to Sant Ponc, patron saint of beekeepers and herbalists who cured Catalan people by medicinal herbs. The first one was organized in 16th century, therefore Feira of Sant Ponc is believed as one of the oldest fairs in Catalonia.
The most vivid trait of the fair is various stalls which are selling herb, fruit, yogurt, cheese, jam, honey…all of them are homemade and organic. Also in the fair visitors can enjoy Catalan traditional dishes. For Catalan people, Feira of Sant Ponc is a part of their culture; they still preserve an old custom during it: cleaning the apartments and put some branches of herb from the fair under bed to drive away evils.
